Review for 5.56/30 Cal Kit
★ ★ ★ ★ ★
Eugene Cieplinski –
I don’t have a review but I’ll write one if I buy one. But first I’m am wondering if there is or will be a fixture to drill the holes in the one that’s for the 5.56? I purchased one for a .22 but I haven’t completed the Form 1 yet. Thanks for a great product!
Mark Thompson-Kolar –
Wondering the same thing – when fixtures will be available for 5.56 or 30. The lack of a fixture for either of those is causing me to delay buying this kit.
Stephen Miller –
I emailed customer service about the drill fixtures. Their response was that 1) they are considering making drill fixtures for 5.56, and may be coming soon, but 2) more importantly, they don’t think you need one. The drill fixtures are for the ALUMINUM baffles, as drill press vises would crush them. The stainless steel baffles have self-aligning drill holes, and you can clamp them as hard as you want without damaging them. I also haven’t purchased one, but thought I’d share that.

Nice for the price. I would really like a qd option.

This thing is BEEFY! Solidly built with excellent tolerances. Used the jig to drill all the baffles. Had a small hiccup with the exit cap as it didnt fit in the jig even with massaging. Maybe I am an idiot but it wasnt close to fitting… The exit cap is dimpled so i used progressively increasing bits with plenty of tapmagic to ensure i stayed centered (too laze to use my drill press). Not a big deal but it didnt match up with the video “how to” for the new jig. Even with that minor hiccup, 5 stars cause this is my third solvent trap from QuietBore and this is my favorite trap of all so far.

Purchased a 5.56 cal kit along with drill fixture and engraving. Very happy with the kit! I just followed their web video to use the drill fixture. The engraving is very professional looking, having them do it saves time and hassle getting it engraved after the fact.
Form 1 approved in 3 weeks!
The 9mm kit is next on the list!

I tried my Quiet Bore solvent trap out for the first time a couple of days ago. To say that I am impressed would be an understatement.
I drilled out the cups and end cap per the instructions and video. In case you didn’t know, there is a new video out for the 556/762 drill fixture.

I drilled mine out for the 5.56 MM Nato round. After drilling, my ATF approved suppressor was mounted on a Mossberg MVP in 5.56 MM. I upgraded this rifle with an aluminum chassis from MDT with a Vortex PST 3-15X scope.
The ammunition I used was some old Samson (IMI) 55 grain soft point as I have a lot of it and will be used on varmints. The groups were not any larger than 3/4 inches. Please keep in mind that they have hovered at about 1 1/2″ in the past!
I’m not going to even try to contemplate the increase in accuracy. I’m going to accept it and I will be ordering more solvent traps from Quiet Bore.
Thanks for making a great product!

Purchased a 22 cal. Solvent trap with the specific purpose of form 1ing it. After a little delay from ATF… I’ve got it!! Was a little worried about the ability to suppress the sound. The item is extremely small and very light weight. In the end I was extremely impressed with the product. Will be ordering more and would recommend this product to everyone!!!

Please make a QD adapter option for 13/16×16 threads. Would open up a hole new level of rifle options. love the the form 1 build I did. Very well built.

Built like a tank. Excellent communication. This ain’t McDonald’s. Sit down and wait for your order. It will be RIGHT when it arrives. You’re a dumbass if you don’t get the drilling jig at the same time. Plenty quiet. If you run out of bullets, it will serve as a very good bludgeon. I like it.

Received mine finally after a mixup with ups (first one was ‘lost”) The guys at QB were awesome at getting a kit shipped out to me. i drilled it out using the jig and everything is great. Tried it out on my new Grendel build and noticed a little MOA shift but nothing too crazy. It definitely quieted it down. The only thing i hope for in the future is a QD attachment option. Thanks for a great product guys!

Great quality, great finish. The 30 cal fixture worked amazing. Got my tax stamp approval in 2.5 weeks. Going to be getting another one. Thank you Preston.

I love this solvent trap (can). It reduces the noise on the 5.56 tremendously. Its solidly made. The only thing that I am concerned about is the weight. It’s pretty heavy. Held in a tripod is no big deal. But if are carrying it, that’s a different story. I own two of these. The 5.56 drilled and the .22. Buy them, you won’t be disappointed.

Received my can one week after my Form 1 was approved. Had the whole kit drilled approximately 35 mins after UPS dropped it off. Couldn’t help but try it on my 22/45, and I’m in love. Ringing my 10” plate at 45 yards with standard velocity CCI. Going to have to remove all my muzzle devices before I thread the can on any of my AR’s. The sole gripe I have so far is the threading of entrance cap. Would definitely love a 24 tpi can to use standard thread suppressor entrance cap. No big deal, but I would buy easily buy another kit just to have this option.
Preston –
it came with both the 5/8×24 and 1/2×28 entrance

I have been using it for a 3 months now. Not a bad can. Heavy and no qd mounting options with an off thread pitch is why i give it 3 stars. If you arent going to make any qd options at least use the industry standard threads so we can use our own options.

Got this months ago and wanted to take the time shooting a few thousand rounds through it before reviewing. First off I’ll start with the engraving you guys did. It was phenomenal and worth every penny. The overall build is rugged enough to deal with my abuse and occasional clumsiness. I’ve currently been testing a lot of 308/223 supersonic and subs and can’t say enough how much I love how quiet this beast is. An excellent product that I’d highly recommend to others. Definitely going to be a return customer.
